The quick search has been expanded to include all suttas alongside blog posts, making it easy to navigate directly to any content on the site.

Access the search in two ways:

  • Click the search icon in the navigation bar
  • Use the keyboard shortcut Cmd+K on Mac or Ctrl+K on Windows

Keyboard shortcuts:

  • Press P to jump to Posts
  • Press S to jump to Suttas
  • Press Escape to close

What This Search Does

Quick search is designed for fast navigation when you know what you're looking for. It searches titles, IDs, and metadata to help you jump directly to specific content.

For exploring suttas by meaning and concept, use the Contextual Search instead, which understands natural language queries like "teachings about letting go" or "suttas where Buddha talks to kings."

What You Can Find

Suttas:

  • Sutta IDs: MN1, DN22, SN56_11
  • English titles: Right View, Mindfulness of Breathing
  • Pali titles: Sammādiṭṭhi Sutta, Ānāpānasati Sutta
  • Collections: Majjhima to browse all MN suttas
  • Sub-collections: dhp for Dhammapada verses

Posts/Docs:

  • Post titles, summaries, and tags

Results are organized into clear sections (Posts, Suttas, Collections) with sutta IDs and collection names displayed for easy identification.

Example Searches

  • mn10 → Satipaṭṭhāna Sutta
  • right view → MN9 (Sammādiṭṭhi Sutta)
  • mindfulness breathing → MN118
  • dhp → Dhammapada verses
  • majjhima → Browse entire Middle Length collection

The search is somewhat forgiving with partial matches and handles subcollections properly, ensuring correct URL navigation.

Two Search Types

  • Quick Search (Cmd/Ctrl+K): Fast navigation to specific suttas by ID or title
  • Contextual Search: Explore suttas by meaning using natural language queries

Both searches serve different purposes and complement each other for comprehensive sutta discovery and study.
