“House-leaver, craving-severer, unperturbed one,”
said the venerable Bhadrāvudha,
“delight-leaver, flood-crosser, freed one,
conjecture-leaver, wise one, I implore —
having heard the bull they will bow out from here.
Diverse people from the countries have come together,
anticipating your word, mighty one.
As you have understood this order,
explain to them well, indeed.”
“Lead away all craving and taking, Bhadrāvudha,”
said the Auspicious One,
“above, below, across, and in the middle,
for whatever in the world they take near,
thereby Māra follows a mortal.
The recollected bhikkhu, understanding this,
would not take anything near in all the world,
observing that, in being stuck in taking,
this population is entangled in the sphere of death.”
